Interpreting for everyday business needs
Business interpreting – also known as liaison or ad hoc interpreting – is the most common type of interpreting. It is used for: business meetings, commercial negotiations, factory visits, trade fairs, interviews and other commonly occurring situations. Typically these are less formal occasions, involving small numbers of people, where an interpreter can help you complete successful discussions.
Interpreting for legal situations
Legal interpreting – often referred to as court interpreting when used for court appearances – can be useful in a variety of formal and less formal legal proceedings. It may be needed for police interviews, taking witness statements, client meetings with solicitors and other key legal matters. Our experienced legal interpreters fully understand the significance and requirements of such situations.
Consecutive interpreting
You may be expecting a more formal event involving a larger group of people. In this case we would arrange consecutive interpreting for you. Here the interpreter will translate out loud what has been said by the previous speaker, either after each sentence or at the end of a short speech. This method is commonly used in court proceedings, small conferences and large group discussions.
Interpreting for conferences and major events
Conference interpreting – also called simultaneous interpreting – is commonly used at major multinational events. This method requires the interpreter to listen and translate out loud whilst the participant is speaking. It also involves two interpreters for each language pair, working in soundproof booths. We can provide all of the audio equipment which will you will need.
